Following a notification issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Monday, the self-declaration form that international travelers arriving in India must complete on the Air Suvidha portal is canceled.
The Ministry decided to suspend enabling users to fill out forms on the Air Suvidha portal after a decrease in COVID-19 cases across the country.
A notice issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry on Monday evening read,
“In the light of sustained declining COVID-19 trajectory and significant advances being made in COVID-19 vaccination coverage both globally as well as in India, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued revised ‘Guidelines for International Arrivals’ dated November 21, 2022, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which are annexed.”
“In view of those above MoHFW revised guidelines, the existing MoHFW guidelines on the submission of a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal stand discontinued,” the statement further read.
The notification mentioned a statutory warning that the rule could be reviewed, given the COVID-19 situation.
The latest ministry guidelines on international travel are as follows:
1. All travelers should preferably be fully vaccinated per their country’s approved preliminary vaccination schedule against COVID-19.
2. Any passenger with COVID-19 symptoms during travel shall be isolated per standard protocol.

3. The person should be wearing a mask, isolated and segregated from other passengers in flight/travel, and subsequently shifted to an isolated facility for follow-up treatment.
4. The deboarding should be done following social distancing.
5. Thermal screening should be done for all passengers by health officials at the point of entry.
6. The passengers found to be symptomatic during screening shall be immediately isolated and taken to a designated medical facility as per health protocol.
7. All travelers should self-monitor their health post-arrival, report to the nearest health facility, or call the National Helpline number (1075) or the state helpline number in an emergency.
Due to the significantly better pandemic situation, the government made wearing masks on domestic and international flights optional last week.
The updated recommendations consider the consistently dropping COVID-19 trajectory and notable improvements in COVID-19 immunization coverage internationally and India.
As the pandemic situation has improved over the past few quarters, India has been removing COVID time restrictions such as domestic airfare range, in-flight meal and beverage serving/selling, the number of domestic flights permitted restrictions on scheduled international flights, and testing and quarantine requirements.
