ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Country Day School, one of the city’s private schools, is celebrating its league championship in varsity co-ed soccer.
The Bobcats varsity soccer team, a co-ed middle school team with boys and girls, won its league championship in November following an undefeated 5-0 season. The team is led by head coaches Ivan Tcherepov, Lilly Harris and Kfir Levy and has 25 players from seventh and eighth grades.
“This championship is a milestone for Alexandria Country Day School and its athletes,” Harris told Patch. “It reflects the dedication and hard work of our students and coaches and showcases the strength of our athletic program. Winning the championship with an undefeated season inspires pride in the ACDS community, reinforcing our mission to challenge and support students in pursuing academic and athletic excellence.”

The final game to clinch the league championship was a 7-2 victory over Browne Academy. Harris said the undefeated season and championship were a result of “skill, teamwork, and effective coaching.”
“The players’ commitment to practice and support for each other created a positive environment that allowed them to bring out the best in each other,” said Harris.

Alexandria Country Day School, a K-8 private school, participates in the ABC League for private independent middle school sports. The varsity soccer team has a history of success in the league, winning the championship in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2022 and 2024. Other schools in the ABC League are Browne Academy, Burgundy Farm Country Day School, Gesher Jewish Day School, Edlin School, Green Hedges School, and Merritt Academy in Fairfax County and Capitol Hill Day School in Washington, D.C.
“The ABC League is highly competitive, featuring talented teams from Northern Virginia private independent schools, each committed to athletic excellence,” said Harris.
