Enfield Hit-And-Run Victim Slowly Recovering; Investigation Continues

ENFIELD, CT — Police are still seeking information about a Halloween morning hit-and-run collision near the Enfield Superior Court building, which left a local pedestrian with severe injuries.

Around 6 a.m. on Oct. 31, Dana Morse, 51, was walking to work at Brooks Brothers on Phoenix Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. He was discovered by a passing motorist about an hour later in a ditch near the corner of Phoenix and Post Road, suffering from life-threatening injuries, his wife, Michelle, told Patch.

Morse was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with a fractured neck, four fractures to his spine, a fractured shoulder, ruptured ligaments in his spine and traumatic internal injuries, leading to three emergency surgeries thus far, Michelle Morse said.

A father of four daughters and a grandfather, Morse is slowly recuperating from the trauma, but still has a long road ahead, including a lengthy stay at a rehabilitation center once his hospital stint is complete.

A GoFundMe account has been established to assist Morse and his family with stockpiling medical bills. It may be accessed here.

Meanwhile, police have had very few leads to investigate, but recently reported they are seeking information about a blue Chevrolet Silverado containing a silver toolbox, which was traveling eastbound on Post Road at the time of the collision. The pickup truck may have damage to the passenger side mirror, as well as minor damage on the passenger side, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Pete Nisyrios of the Enfield Police Department Traffic Division at 860-763-8985.
