Brazilian side to set rival Leeds for Mateus Tetê signing

An unnamed Brazilian club are set to rival Premier League side Leeds United for the signature of Brazilian forward Mateus Tetê (22), who is currently on loan at Olympique Lyonnais from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to L’Équipe.

The French publication earlier reported that the deal to join Leeds was set to be completed. Goal journalist Marc Mechenoua  then added that Tetê was in fact absent from Lyon training this morning ahead of a move to the Premier League club. It is believed that the Brazilian has reached an agreement to terminate his loan with Les Gones.

However, another club look set to now rival Leeds. According to L’Équipe, an unnamed Brazilian club have entered into the fray and are pushing to repatriate the forward. Lyon’s Thiago Mendes (30) is another Brazilian that could also make a move back to South America before the closure of the transfer window.

The club have already lost Karl Toko-Ekambi on loan to Stade Rennais, meaning that Lyon are likely to recruit an attacker this month. Former AS Monaco forward Wilson Isidor is heavily linked with a move to the club.
