Man Escapes From Partially Submerged SUV On Long Island On Christmas: Police

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A man escaped from a partially submerged SUV at Jefferson Drive Beach in Mastic Beach on Christmas night, Suffolk police said.

He was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked 2006 Land Rover at Jefferson Drive and Dock Road at around 4:45 p.m., when the tide came in and the vehicle became partially submerged, according to police.

He was able to get out of the vehicle unharmed, and it was towed out of the water, police said.
