PALOS PARK, IL — Great Lakes Beer and Bourbon in Palos Park announced it would permanently close after just opening a year ago on Facebook. The bar and grill’s last day was Labor Day.
“To all our loyal customers over the last year, I first want to express my sincere regret for having to write this post,” the manager wrote. “As of today, Great Lakes Beer and Bourbon will be permanently closed. I have had the great pleasure of being the manager here for the past six months and have made several great friends and memories! You will all be in my heart, and I will treasure the friendships that I have made.”
Great Lakes Beer and Bourbon Bar & Grill opened in July 2023 at 12900 S. LaGrange Road. A rework of the old McDivots, former owner John Ries handed the business off to his sons, Justin, Zachary and Colin.

The closing came as a shock to its loyal customers, which supported the south suburban music scene and local craft brewers.
“Too bad, good food and cheap booze with great bands! Location is tough to survive in,” a patron said on Facebook.

Managing partner Justin Ries said he wasn’t sure what the next steps were for the venue or the space in a strip mall at 129th Street and LaGrange.
