Bicyclist Struck On Brainard Avenue: Police

COUNTRYSIDE, IL – A girl riding a bicycle suffered minor injuries when a car hit her shortly after noon Tuesday in Countryside, just south of the La Grange village limit, Countryside police said.

The car’s driver was cited on a charge of failing to yield the right of way at a crosswalk, Police Chief Paul Klimek said in an email to Patch.

According to police, the driver was turning right from westbound Longview Drive to go north on Brainard Avenue. The girl was riding her bicycle south on the bike path, which runs on the east side of Brainard Avenue, police said.

Making the turn, the vehicle struck the youth as she rode her bike across the street, police said. The girl suffered scrapes and bruises as a result.

Paramedics checked her, and she was not taken to the hospital, police said.
