Frankfort Renews Contract With Homewood Disposal

FRANKFORT, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Frankfort Village Board approved a residential refuse service agreement with Homewood Disposal Service.

Homewood Disposal Service has been a long-time refuse provider for the Village, according to Board documents.

“Members considered the proposed rates in comparison with nearby communities who also receive weekly waste and recycling services,” Trustee Jessica Petrow said during the meeting.

The Board approved a five-year contract with Homewood, with an optional three-year extension.

The proposed rates for residents show a gradual annual increase, which is due to inflation, rising personnel and operational costs, and investments in improved services, board documents state.

The current rate for residents is $20.11 per month. Rates would increase starting on Sept. 1 each year: $21.72 per month from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2024; $23.46 per month from Sept. 1, 2024 to Aug. 31, 2025; $24.39 per month from Sept. 1, 2025, to Aug. 31, 2026; $25.37 per month from Sept. 1, 2026 to Aug. 31, 2027; and $26.39 per month from Sept. 1, 2027 to Aug. 31, 2028.
