John Castic Found In Newtown Creek After BK Venue Disappearance: NYPD

EAST WILLIAMSBURG, NY — Goldman Sachs analyst John Castic was found dead in Newton Creek Tuesday morning, just days after he went missing from the Brooklyn Mirage, according to the NYPD.

He is the second young man to be found dead in the Brooklyn creek after leaving the popular East Williamsburg music venue this summer, officials say.

Castic’s body was spotted floating in the water near the Metropolitan Avenue Bridge — near Castic’s last known location — about 11 a.m., according to the FDNY and his friends.

The cause of death remains unknown.

Castic disappeared after leaving a concert at the Brooklyn Mirage early Saturday morning, friends told Patch Monday.

Castic’s phone location went dark soon after he left the venue, but the Find My app puts his last known location on the Metropolitan Avenue Bridge about 3:50 a.m. Saturday, friend Eamon Stenson told Patch.

Castic’s father told Fox News his son was found with his wallet and phone on him, causing him to suspect it was “death by misadventure.”

Patch could not confirm this detail with NYPD.

“He’s an amazing guy and he’s a better friend,” said pal Eamon Stenson on Monday. “We all just want John back.”

Friends on Monday told Patch the Chicago native was kind, smart and always down to keep his friends company. He was supposed to be a groomsman in a friend’s upcoming wedding.

Castic was found about two months after Karl Clemente, 27, vanished from Brooklyn Mirage, according to police.

Clemente went missing on June 11 about 10 p.m., police said. His body was found five days later in Newtown Creek.

Clemente’s father told Fox News his son’s phone and wallet were not found on his body — and that security footage captured Clemente running near a lumber warehouse between Brooklyn Mirage and Newtown Creek.

News of the shocking discovery Tuesday reached City Council Member Jen Gutiérrez, who promised she was looking into the situation.

“My team is aware of the body that was pulled from Newtown Creek this afternoon,” Gutiérrez said, “and are working with local authorities to obtain more information.”
