SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A fire broke out at the Stop & Shop in Southampton Village Friday night, officials said.
According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, the structure fire broke out at 11:26 p.m. at the store on Jagger Lane.
No injuries were reported, Brenner said.

While responding, chiefs were advised that there were flames visible; Southampton Village Police dispatchers also reported a working commercial fire, Brenner said.
The first engine arrived and immediately, the crew entered the building and found a fire in the rear of the structure, Brenner said. While the fire was extinguished quickly, there was heavy smoke throughout the building; fans were used to remove the smoke, Brenner said.

The North Sea Fire Department was requested, for an engine to the scene, and the Hampton Bays Fire Department was requested for a rapid intervention team, Brenner said. Southampton Village Volunteer ambulance was on the scene with two ambulances and multiple personnel to assist with firefighter rehab, Brenner said.
Crews were on the scene for 90 minutes. 1st Assistant Chief Polis Walker and 2nd Assistant Chief Richard Fowler were in command for the Southampton Fire Department; the Southampton fire marshal was on the scene to investigate the fire’s origin, Brenner said.
PSEG and National Grid were requested to the scene, as well.
