Downtown Elmhurst Restaurant Closing

ELMHURST, IL – Nu Crepes, a downtown Elmhurst breakfast and brunch restaurant, is closing after a dozen years.

According to its website, Jan. 11 is the last day for the eatery in the pedestrian walkway at 115 W. Schiller Court.

“Our family took a risk and opened a fun and delicious crepe concept,” the Martin family owners said in a Facebook post in October. “We think that we were successful in delivering the same consistency of our premium, yet affordable product since 2012. However, markets and expenses have changed considerably over time – more so recently.”

Word of mouth and repeat customers are credited for the restaurant being listed as a Chicago top spot featured on WGN and labeled as a “gem, hole-in-the-wall eatery,” the family said.

The family promised to serve the same product in the restaurant’s last days.

“Without (customers’ support), we surely would have not made it past the first year, let alone a pandemic!” the family said.

The restaurant couldn’t be reached for immediate comment Monday morning.
