SAN DIEGO, CA — Hot Wheels Monster Trucks are rolling back into San Diego.

The Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party will light up Pechanga Arena with three show times this weekend.

The action-packed show, produced by Family Entertainment Live, brings fan-favorite Hot Wheels Monster Trucks to life, including Mega Wrex, Tiger Shark, Demo Derby, Bone Shaker, Bigfoot and Gunkster. The glow party includes lasers, dance parties and Hot Wheels toy giveaways.

This year, the show will unveil the all-new Skelesaurus, as well as HW 5-Alarm, the firetruck hero of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks.

Joe Cypher is the driver of 5-Alarm, which is specially equipped with hand controls.

Cypher, 60, was paralyzed in an accident in 1989. But that didn’t stop his love for driving.

Cypher, who is from Reno, Nevada, has been driving monster trucks for more than 30 years. The former U.S. Army Ranger created the Airborne Ranger, the world’s first hand-controlled monster truck.

“I love what I do because it gives me total independence, but also because I love to entertain families and kids,” he told Patch.

Cypher grew up playing with Hot Wheels, so he said it is great to see the toys come to life in monster trucks.

“This is true entertainment for a family to come out and take a break and see a glow party with monster trucks,” he said. “These are life-size Hot Wheels.”

In addition to the show, fans have a chance to participate in the Hot Wheels Power Smashers Pre-Show, held two-and a-half hours prior to every performance. The pre-show gives fans access to the competition floor, where they can see the trucks and meet the drivers. Pre-show tickets include an autograph card, lanyard, glow stick and souvenir pass.

“Come on out, have a good time, even if it’s your first Monster Trucks show,” Cypher said. “You see the toys crush cars in an old-fashioned way. You can actually hear the cars getting crushed over the engines. Families get immersed in this show unlike any other Monster Truck show out there. It is good old-fashioned entertainment.”

Shows are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Pre-shows begin at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.

To celebrate the all-new Skelesaurus, fans can purchase tickets for 25% off by using code FOSSIL.
