Firearm Threat Reported On Buffalo Grove School Bus: Police

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Following a firearm threat on a local school bus Monday afternoon, the Buffalo Grove Police Department said it quickly evacuated students and searched the bus, with no weapon found.

Police said they were notified of the threat on a departing afternoon bus from Aptakisic Junior High School. After locating the bus, police evacuated students and began a search that included the bus, students and their belongings. The investigation determined there was no weapon and no threat to students.

Students from the bus were reunited with parents and guardians at the school, with student resource officers working with those involved.

“We are grateful for the quick action of a student on the bus who reported their concern, and the quick actions of the BGPD and Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 following,” Buffalo Grove Police Chief Brian Budds said in a social media post. “This is a great reminder to share with your children, ‘If you see something, say something.’ Always reach out to a trusted adult whenever they see or hear unsafe or concerning behavior.”
