Dave Vazzano, owner of School of Rock Glenbrook, tells Patch the tour began last week and runs through July 28. Camry Napoli, a keyboard student at the school and a rising junior at John Hersey High School, has been selected to perform for the second straight year. Also on board are Abbie Folan (vocalist), Abby Morrison (bassist), Hunter Keith (guitarist), and Flynn Taylor (drummer). The five are part of School of Rock Glenbrook’s Show Team, which is an audition-only band that plays in the community. They will be playing at the Kidzapalooza Stage on Aug. 2 at Chicago’s Lollapalooza.

“This remarkable opportunity allows these students to showcase their unwavering dedication to music and natural talent on prestigious stages nationwide,” Vazzano said.

The band is also performing at historic venues in New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as part of the Midwest tour this Saturday at Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn.

According to School of Rock Glenbrook, fewer than 1 percent are chosen each year from over 67,000 School of Rock students to be All-Stars. Students get to have an authentic touring experience, including traveling on a tour bus, doing tour publicity, and starring in nightly performances at famous venues and festivals during a two-week tour.

In addition, the tour raises awareness for mental health as the School of Rock has partnered with the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide, which promotes healthy practices on the road as a touring musician. The AllStars will be raising donations during their shows to support SPTS.
