HOOKSETT, NH — A canoe floating in the Merrimack River in Hooksett was cause for concern on Monday, leading fire and rescue teams to recover the boat from the river.
Just before 4:15 p.m., Capital Region Fire Dispatch took a call about a canoe near a dam in the river that appeared to be unmanned. Hooksett firefighters sent a boat team to Lambert Park and launched into the river.
Dispatch told the firefighters there was limited information about the call. Police initially took the call and reported it to Marine Patrol, they said, adding they did not know the color of the canoe.
