The two victims told officers Hernandez broke into the house while they were inside, prompting them to barricade themselves in a bedroom. The man followed them and eventually kicked down the door. In response, one of the juveniles armed themselves with a firearm and held the Chicago man at gunpoint until officers arrived, according to Ostreko.

Detectives also discovered that while trying to break into the front of the house, Hernandez dropped a bag filled with a white powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine, the sergeant said.
