Woman Arrested In Contra Costa High-Speed Chase: CHP

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol provided more information about a pursuit Tuesday that ended in Lamorinda and resulted in a brief manhunt.

The chase started shortly after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when a Contra Costa CHP officer saw a gray Hyundai Sonata being driven at speeds over 100 mph on westbound state Highway 4 at Harbor Street, according to CHP Officer Daniel Gilmore.

The woman driving the car initially fled from the officer but eventually pulled into a parking lot off of Port Chicago Way and SR-4 and stopped, Gilmore told Patch.

“As the officer attempted to handcuff the female adult driver, she resisted arrest, regained access to her car, and fled,” Gilmore said. “The officer was uninjured but unable to pursue.”

Around 5 p.m., the CHP was notified that the driver of the Hyundai had crashed at the intersection of Old Tunnel Road and Pleasant Hill Road in the city of Lafayette.
