PASADENA, CA — A fatality on the Ventura (134) Freeway Tuesday morning jammed up several highways in the Pasadena area through the morning rush hour. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed on the SR-134, creating a domino effect of lane closures on multiple freeway transitions in the area.
Commuters were advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the westbound SR-134 between the Foothill (210) Freeway and Colorado Boulevard/Orange Grove Boulevard, according to CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig. The 2, 3, and 4 lanes of the westbound SR-134 remained closed as of 8:20 a.m., said Kravig.

Officers have been investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5:33 a.m. on the westbound SR-134 near Orange Grove Boulevard, said Kravig. Authorities did not immediately release details of the crash.
