2 Juveniles Seriously Injured In Temecula E-Motorcycle Crash

TEMECULA, CA — The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department released details Thursday about two juveniles who were seriously injured after crashing an electric motorcycle this week near N. General Kearny and Nicolas roads in Temecula.

The crash prompted an urgent message from the law enforcement agency to all Southwest Riverside County parents.

According to the sheriff’s department, the two juveniles were riding a Sur-Ron e-motorcycle on North General Kearny Road and collided with a Honda sedan on Nicolas Road at about 7:59 p.m. Wednesday.

“The juveniles were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries,” the sheriff’s department said. “The motorcycle … lacked basic safety equipment needed for roadway use.”

The Honda driver was not injured, the agency reported.

The crash cause remains under investigation by the Southwest Sheriff’s Station. No arrests were reported.

The sheriff’s department warned that an e-bike without pedals with a motor over 750 watts — like the one the juveniles were riding — cannot be legally operated by unlicensed riders on public thoroughfares.
