WINDSOR, CT — More than 100 United Parcel Service (UPS) employees are expected to lose their jobs early this spring upon the imminent closure of the CT Hub in a Box Twilight and Night Sorts at 1 Market Circle.
In an official notice to the Connecticut Department of Labor, UPS human resources business partner director Raul Simons attributed the closure to “volume loss in our network.”
The expected employee release date is April 2, and will include 72 part-time hourly employees, 23 full-time hourly employees and 23 part-time supervisors. Both union and non-union workers will be affected, and bumping rights will be in effect for the force reduction, according to the filing.

“This action is expected to be permanent due to the lack of available work at this location moving forward,” Simons wrote. “UPS remains in the above-referenced facility, but there are currently no plans to retain UPS employees assigned to the night sort beyond April 2, 2024.”
The Atlanta-based multinational shipping and receiving giant “will attempt to mitigate this loss by offering work to affected employees if other positions become available,” according to the filing.
