Gunther not allowed to leave US for next six months due to residency regulations

For the next six months, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther will only be allowed to wrestle in the United States.

Krone, Austria's largest newspaper, published a story on Gunther this week after speaking with him on WWE's tour of Germany. It was noted that Gunther isn't allowed to leave the US for the next six months due to strict residency regulations. Gunther was born in Austria and now resides in Orlando, Florida.

Gunther said this will allow him to spend more time with his wife Jinny, who he only saw for six days in October. Jinny formerly wrestled for NXT UK before retiring due to concussion issues. The couple got married earlier this year.

Gunther is the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. Last month, his title reign passed the 500-day mark. He won the Intercontinental title from Ricochet on SmackDown in June 2022.

Gunther's most recent title defense was against Bronson Reed on the October 16 episode of Raw.

On Raw earlier this week, Gunther began a feud with The Miz. A fatal four-way match on this Monday's Raw will decide Gunther's next challenger. The match is Miz vs. Ricochet vs. Reed vs. Ivar.

Gunther doesn't have a match at Saturday's Crown Jewel premium live event in Saudi Arabia.

Not being able to wrestle outside of the US for the next six months also means that Gunther won't be able to compete at WWE's Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia in February 2024.

Gunther will be able to wrestle at WWE Bash in Berlin in August 2024.
