NEPTUNE CITY, NJ — There will be two DWI checkpoints this pre-July 4 weekend in Monmouth County:
The first will be Friday, June 30 in Neptune City, from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday. Drivers will be diverted from Rt. 35 north into the Sunoco gas station, where local officers and task force members will be screening drivers for impairment.

The second one will be in Allenhurst, from 9 p.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. on Sunday. Officers will divert all northbound traffic onto Elberon Avenue, where drivers will be screened for impairment

“Unfortunately, the 4th of July holiday weekend sees a higher than usual number of impaired drivers on the road and our goal continues to include deterrence, enforcement and education,” said Allenurst Police Chief Michael Schneider, who is also the Monmouth County Drunk or Impaired Driving Task Force coordinator.
