Man Robs Melville Bank After Trying To Rob East Farmingdale Bank: SCPD

MELVILLE, NY — Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Melville was robbed on Friday, Suffolk police told Patch. The same man, who has not been arrested, also tried to rob a Bethpage FCU branch in East Farmingdale 20 minutes earlier, police said.

A man passed a teller a note at 9:42 a.m. demanding cash at Bethpage FCU, at 1033 Route 109, East Farmingdale, police said. The teller refused to give the man money, and he ran away, police said.

He went to the Bethpage FCU location at 501 Walt Whitman Road, Melville, around 20 minutes later, when he passed a teller a note demanding cash, police said. The teller gave the man the money, and he ran off again, police said.

Police described the man as black, between 25 and 30 years old, 6 feet tall and thin. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and maroon pants.

Detectives asked anyone with information on these incidents to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.
