Lookout Notice Issued Against Amritpal Singh As Cops Suspect He Changed Appearance, Share His 7 Looks

Punjab Police has issued a lookout circular (LOC) and a non-bailable warrant against Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh as the hunt for the Waris Punjab de chief enters its fifth day on Wednesday.

“We are making all efforts to arrest him. We’re hopeful that we’ll arrest him soon…It is difficult to say that. Punjab Police is receiving full cooperation from other states and central agencies,” Punjab IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill told reporters on Tuesday.

The Punjab police had arrested four aides of Amritpal Singh on Tuesday for helping him escape. The accused, Manpreet Singh alias Manna, Gurdeep Singh alias Deepa, Harpreet Singh alias Happy and Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja helped Singh to flee in a car while cops were chasing him in Jalandhar on Saturday.

From Mercedes to Maruti to motorbike

Singh, who managed to dodge thousands of policemen for four days in a dramatic hunt across Punjab, was earlier caught in CCTV footage escaping in a white SUV on March 18. A CCTV camera captured the video near a toll plaza in Jalandhar.

Amritpal Singh dumped the Mercedez car by the road in Shahkot and then switched to Brezza of an associate, NDTV reported citing sources. The Waris Punjab De Chief was seen exiting a toll plaza in Jalandhar at around 11:27 am in a white Maruti Brezza car. He was seen in the front seat of the Maruti Brezza car. He is then seen exiting the car and hightailing it on a bike.

The 30-year-old radical preacher is seen in the clip from the toll booth the day the Punjab police launched its operation to arrest him. However, he dodged thousands of policemen as he was last seen driving away on a motorbike. He is still on the run, and a hunt is underway to capture him.

Cops share his 7 looks

Cops also suspect that he may have changed appearance and also released several avatars or looks of fugitive Amritpal Singh. The cops have released seven pics of the fugitive showing him in different attire.

The cops released the set of pictures, where the Khalistani leader, who styles himself after the Sikh terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was seen in various guises and turbans.

Punjab Police invokes NSA

The Punjab Police has invoked National Security Act (NSA) against Amritpal Singh and a non-bailable warrant was issued against him on March 18. Arms Act has been invoked against the four people who helped him.

Amritpal Singh rose to fame almost six to seven months back when he became the head of “Waris Punjab De” organisation, which the late Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu founded.

He is a Khalistan sympathiser and a radical preacher and claims to be an ardent follower of Bhindranwale, who was killed in the infamous operation Blue Star of 1984. Before becoming a baptised Sikh, Singh was in Dubai. To promote Sikhism, he conducted long marches like “Khalsa Vaheer”.
