WALES U20 LOCK Adam Beard has been cited for an alleged gouge during his side’s 26-25 defeat to Ireland in the World Rugby U20 Championship yesterday.
The imposing Ospreys second row is alleged to have made contact “with the eye or eye area” of Ireland’s replacement back row Kelvin Brown in the 71st minute of Wales’ defeat in Manchester.
Beard, whose citing comes under Law 10.4 (m) – relating to acts contrary to good sportsmanship – will face a disciplinary hearing on Thursday 9 June, with independent Judicial Officer Mike Hamlin overseeing the case.
Wales’ next game sees them face Georgia on Saturday as they look to bounce back from the upset against Ireland.
Meanwhile, Georgia could be without Gurami Kandaurishvili for Saturday’s clash with the Welsh after the outside back was cited following last night’s defeat to New Zealand.
Kandaurishvili faces a disciplinary hearing of his own tomorrow evening after being cited for allegedly biting Kiwi man of the match Mitchell Jacobson.
Finally, World Rugby confirmed that Australian Campbell Magnay’s red card during yesterday’s loss to Scotland will be the subject of a hearing this evening.
The Rebels centre was sent off after picking up two yellow cards, one for a neck roll and the first for lifting a Scottish player beyond the horizontal in a tackle.
